David and I began discussing ways to give back to and support Le Bonheur Children's Hospital as early as leaving the hospital parking lot on that Friday night. We quickly learned that LeBonheur and St. Jude's share resources and so supporting one supports the other. Knowing we could contribute to these amazing hospitals offered (and continues to offer) some comfort. Our Sweet Violet died, but other babies can LIVE.
A few days ago, my sister started Team Sweet Violet to run in the St. Jude's Marathon Weekend. Within a few hours the team started to accumulate HEROES. I'll admit I was a little scared to register to run. For those of you who know me, the joke is "I only run if I'm being chased." I "ran" my first 5K last summer at the Shaklee Global Convention in Long Beach, CA on my birthday. I didn't die, but I felt like I was going to. Lesson: TRAIN before you run.
Now that I'm running for my Sweet Violet, I have a reason to train. So if you see me running down the street, don't laugh. Give me a thumbs up and maybe welcome me home with a gluten free cupcake.
So for all the Sweet Violets - I am committing to RUN!
